Spring Dethatch

Have winter storms left you with a mess? Need some help to take care of your matted down lawn from the winters snow? Thinning out the thatch in the lawn clears out old, dead grass and other organic matter that has built up but not broken down over the fall and winter months. Dethatching opens up the lawn surface, allowing for improved nutrient and water intake. It also cuts through stolons and rhizomes, or lateral stems, which encourages new growth.

Fertilizing and Weed Control

Is your lawn starving? If you haven’t fertilized lately, it could be. Grass needs nutrients to thrive, but many lawns are constantly malnourished and don’t look as good as they should.
Patchiness, bare spots, browning, and weed invasion are hallmarks of a starving or struggling yard. These problems can be prevented with proper fertilizer application, good lawn maintenance, weed control, and a solid year-round lawn care plan.

Aeration

Aeration is a lawn care practice designed to create openings in lawn turf and the underlying soil structure in order to penetrate the root and thatch layer and allow essential water and air down into the soil where it can better reach the grassroots. The process is usually called "core aeration" after the practice of punching small plugs, or cores, into the lawn.

There are many benefits to aerating your lawn including improved turf health, reduce thatch build-up, relieve soil compaction, reduced water run off and puddling, and prepare the grass for winter docmancy and a green spring.

Overseeding

Winter weather, foraging critters, and general wear and tear can take a toll on a lawn that, only a few months before, was wonderfully lush. If you find brown, bare patches amongst new growth or thinning of a once thick carpet of green, overseeding your lawn is a simple remedy that can help prevent future problems. In fact, if you apply an extra helping of seeds to lawn before it shows signs of thinning or damage, you’ll save time and effort down the road.  Overseeding has many benefits which include reducing erosion, improve appearance, reduce risk of pests and disease, increase thickness all while using no chemicals.

Mechanical Edging

Using a commercial grade mechanical edger with a steel blade can give your property that finishing touch!  This defined edge is the perfect compliment to your curb line, sidewalk, or driveway.  Edging in the fall is espically helpful when you are trying to blow or shovel snow.
